Description
This iconic Jantzen diving girl in her bathing cap first appeared at Stamie's Swimwear in Daytona Beach, Florida, way back in the 1960s, and that sign became a Daytona landmark. The first time I went sign hunting in Daytona Beach, it was at the top of my must-shoot signs. Then, sadly, Stamie's closed in 2017 and Jantzen wanted their mannequin back, so the sign was dismantled and the diving girl was shipped across the country. But the good folks of Daytona Beach were upset by this and so, in 2018, she was renovated and returned, now on display in a public area for all to enjoy. So while you can thankfully still see her, the sign is gone -- I'm so glad I was able to see it, and shoot it.
