Artist's Description
As Route 66, the Mother Road, wound its way through Los Angeles back in the 1930s, it passed through the Highland Park neighbourhood as part of both the Transitional and Alternate routes. On Figueroa Avenue, you'll find this old and broken neon sign for the Highland Hotel. The neon has long been removed, the sign is rusty, and the hotel no longer welcomes weary Route 66 travellers since, well, the hotel doesn't exist any longer. But this nifty deep blue sign remains.
